Tigh-Na-Creige

Tigh-Na-Creige is in Colintraive, on the Cowal peninsula. It means 'house on the crag'. It's detached and sits right on the water with its own little beach and a private slipway. You get five acres of grounds to yourselves, mostly woodland and garden.

It sleeps eight. Four bedrooms, two bathrooms. It's all on one level. The kitchen is open-plan with the dining and living area. It was upgraded a couple of years ago and has everything you'd need. There's a wood burner in the living space.

The main thing is the view. You look straight out over Loch Riddon, which is a National Scenic Area. The water is right there. There's a deck outside the kitchen that gets the sun, and a terraced garden. We've also put in a wood-fired hot tub that takes five people. It faces the loch.

If you've got a boat, you can use the mooring. People swim, kayak, or fish from here. The stairs down to the beach are a bit steep, just so you know.

You can get the ferry to the Isle of Bute from Colintraive in about five minutes. Rothesay is the main town there. The bigger ferry to the Isle of Arran goes from Tarbert, which is about a thirty-minute drive. Portavadie Marina is about twenty minutes away if you need facilities.

For a day out, Inveraray with its castle is about forty-five minutes north. The Benmore Botanic Garden near Dunoon is worth a visit, maybe thirty-five minutes drive. The area is good for walking. The local history is interesting, from Vikings to the Argyll Rising.

Facilities: it's got a dishwasher, washing machine, WiFi, and parking. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a highchair. You can bring up to two dogs.
