Burnt House Cottage

Burnt House Cottage is in Darmsden, Suffolk. It's a thatched cottage, Grade II listed. Parts of it are from the 15th century. It's at the end of a quiet lane, surrounded by fields.

It sleeps eight people in four bedrooms. There are three bathrooms and four toilets, which is why it works for two families or a bigger group. The rooms aren't huge, but having that many bathrooms helps. The grandparents' bedroom is on the ground floor, so you're not all on top of each other.

It's got two living rooms. The main one is very old, with a brick floor, beams, and a wood burner. The other one has a TV and looks out over the garden. The dining table extends to seat eight. The windows in there are from the 17th century, but they're part of the wall now.

It's a 3 Star place. It's clean and comfortable, not fancy. The floors are wooden, the beams are exposed. It's just a nice, straightforward old house.

You'll need a car. The nearest shop and pub are about three quarters of a mile away. Needham Market has a train station, but it's a 40 minute walk from the cottage.

For days out, Bury St Edmunds, Diss, and Stowmarket are all within half an hour. The pretty villages like Lavenham and Long Melford are close. Norwich, Cambridge, and Newmarket are all within an hour's drive. Thetford Forest is about half an hour away.

Facilities: there's a wood burner, a dishwasher, washing machine, WiFi, TV, parking, and a garden. Bedding is included. You can bring one dog.
