The Wheel House is in Heathwaite, just off the road between Swainby and Osmotherley. It's part of an old farmstead. The main thing is the view. You look out over fields towards the moors. The light in the evening is really good.
It sleeps four, in two bedrooms. There's one bathroom with a shower. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and clean. They've kept some of the old stone walls. The garden room is big, that's because it used to be the wheelhouse for the farm.
You're right on the edge of the North York Moors National Park. You can walk straight from the door onto the moors or into the woods. The Cleveland Way is close by if you want a longer route.
Swainby village is about two miles away. There's a shop and a couple of pubs there. Osmotherley is about the same distance the other way, that's got a good village store and a cafe. For a bigger shop, Thirsk is a fifteen minute drive. It's a proper market town.
The coast is about forty minutes in the car. Whitby is the main one, with the abbey and the harbour. Saltburn is good if you surf. For something quieter, Staithes is a nice fishing village.
Inside, it's open plan downstairs. There's a wood burner. The kitchen has a dishwasher and a washing machine. There's a TV and WiFi. The garden is enclosed, so it's fine for a dog. We include all bedding and towels. Parking is right outside.
