The Retreat Cottage is in Draethen, which is a hamlet on the edge of Rudry. It's on a private estate. The cottage itself sits in a big garden that's just for you.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable, not huge. The stairs are a bit steep and narrow, because it's an old cottage.
Inside, it's open plan downstairs. There's a wood burner. The kitchen has what you'd need, including a dishwasher. Upstairs are two double bedrooms. The views from the windows are good, just fields and trees.
The garden is decent sized. There's a patio with a table and a barbecue. Parking is right outside.
You're in the countryside here. For a walk from the door, Rudry Common is right there. Caerphilly Mountain is about a five minute drive. The view from the top is worth it. Caerphilly Castle is ten minutes away. It's massive.
Cardiff is about twenty minutes in the car if you want the shops or the stadium. For a day out, you've got the Brecon Beacons to the north, or you can go down to Cardiff Bay.
Facilities: WiFi, TV, washing machine, all bedding and towels are included. You can bring up to two dogs. There's local golf and fishing if that's your thing.
