Cwmcarn Cottage is in Risca, near Newport. It's a stone-built house, part of a terrace. It looks out over the valley.
It sleeps five. Three bedrooms upstairs, one bathroom downstairs. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable and has most things you'd need. The stairs are typical for an old house, a bit narrow.
You've got the front and back gardens to use. The back one is enclosed, which is handy with dogs or kids. There's a wood burner in the living room. We leave some logs for you to start with. There's a dishwasher, WiFi, and parking right outside.
The Cwmcarn Forest Drive is basically on your doorstep. You can walk up into it. Good for walking and mountain biking. The Cwmcarn Forest site has trail maps. Sirhowy Country Park is just up the road too.
There's a pub a few minutes' walk away. A couple of shops, a takeaway, that sort of thing. The train station is about a 12-minute walk if you fancy going into Cardiff, which is about half an hour away.
You're well placed for getting around. The coast, like Tredegar House or Newport Wetlands, is about 20-25 minutes by car. For castles and bigger days out, Cardiff Castle or Caerphilly Castle are within half an hour. The Brecon Beacons are about 40 minutes north if you want proper mountains.
We allow up to two dogs. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot if you need it.
