Holly Croft

Holly Croft is a cottage on the edge of Drem in East Lothian. It's a bungalow, so the whole place is on one floor, which might suit some people.

It sleeps seven, which is a bit unusual. There are four bedrooms and two bathrooms. It has a 4 Star rating, so it's a bit more comfortable and better appointed than some holiday lets.

The house is detached, and you have the garden. It looks out onto fields. There is a sitting room and a separate room with a wood burning stove. The main bedroom has patio doors, but before you get excited, there's no actual balcony. They open onto the garden.

It's quiet here. You see a lot of birds. Sometimes you'll see deer or hares in the fields.

For getting around, the A1 is only a couple of minutes away by car. You can drive to Edinburgh in about half an hour. The train station in Drem village is a five minute drive and that gets you into Edinburgh Waverley in about 25 minutes, which is often easier.

This is really golfing country. Muirfield is a ten minute drive. There are dozens of other courses nearby, like Gullane and North Berwick.

The beaches are good. Yellowcraigs and Gullane Bay are about ten minutes in the car. They're sandy and big. North Berwick is a bit further and has a town with shops and cafes as well as the beach.

If you like walking castles, Dirleton Castle ruin is close by. Tantallon Castle, which is a proper cliff-top ruin, is about twenty minutes away towards North Berwick.

For facilities, you've got parking for a couple of cars on the drive. There's a washing machine, wifi, and a TV. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring up to two dogs.
