Abbeymill Farm Cottage

This is Abbeymill Farm Cottage. It's on our farm just outside Haddington. The building is old, 16th century I think, but we did it all up a few years ago so everything inside is new and works properly.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one with a kingsize bed and one with twins. There's one bathroom with a decent shower. Everything is on the ground floor, which is handy.

The main room is open plan. Wood floors, a wood burner for cooler evenings, and a decent sized table. The kitchen area has a dishwasher and a washing machine. The sofa faces the TV and the windows, which look out over the fields and the River Tyne. You can see the water from the living room.

There's a path from the garden down to the riverbank. You can walk along it into Haddington one way, or towards East Linton the other. Haddington is about a mile. It's a proper town with butchers, bakers, a Co-op, and a few pubs and places to eat. The walk there along the river is nice.

The garden is private and enclosed, with a patio and a barbecue. There's parking right outside the door.

You're about ten miles from the coast at places like North Berwick or Dunbar. Edinburgh is roughly a 45 minute drive if you want a city day. The farm is still working, so you'll see tractors and sometimes livestock about.

Everything is included: bedding, towels, electricity, wifi. It's got a 4 Star rating.

A few useful links for the area: National Trust for Scotland and The John Muir Way for walking.
