Cauldside West Cottage East Linton

Cauldside West Cottage is on Smeaton Estate, which is a working farm near East Linton. You reach it by a farm track. It's not tarmacked, so it's a bit rough. Once you're here, it's a quiet spot.

The cottage sleeps four. Two bedrooms upstairs, one bathroom. It's a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable. There's gas heating and a wood burner. We leave logs for you.

There's an enclosed garden. It looks out over fields. You often see roe deer and fallow deer. There's an old mansion house next to the cottage with parkland and a lake you can walk around. The estate has Highland cows and horses.

There's a tearoom on the estate. It does good home baked cakes.

East Linton village is about a mile away. You can walk it. There are two pubs, a café, a supermarket, and a butcher. In the village, there's also Preston Mill and Phantassie Doocot, which are worth seeing.

Dunbar is about six miles away. It has a proper harbour where you can watch the boats. The beaches there are part of the John Muir Country Park. North Berwick is a similar distance, with beaches and a high street. There's a regular train from Dunbar to Edinburgh, which takes about 20 minutes.

The place is handy for golf. Courses at Gullane, Dunbar, and North Berwick are close. Glenkinchie Distillery isn't far if you want a tour.

The facilities list covers most of it. There's a washing machine, dishwasher, and WiFi. There's parking right outside. The entrance is step-free, but the main bedrooms are upstairs. Sorry, no pets.
