The Granary is a converted farm building on the Bailey Mill estate, near Roadhead. It sleeps fifteen, so it's really for big groups or large families. Six bedrooms, four bathrooms.
It's got a 3 Star rating. That means it's clean, warm, and everything works, but it's not a show home. It's a solid, practical space. There's a big dining table that seats everyone, which is useful.
The estate has a small bar and restaurant on site. It's handy, especially if you don't want to drive. You can book it out for your group.
You're right on the edge of Kielder Forest here. The Forestry England Kielder site has all the maps. It's all walking, cycling, and dark skies. If you want water, Kielder Water is a twenty minute drive for sailing or fishing.
For history, you can get to bits of Hadrian's Wall in about half an hour. The English Heritage page lists the main sites.
The local towns are Newcastleton and Longtown. They're small. They've got basic shops, a couple of pubs, and not much else. It's quiet.
Facilities: it's all there for a group. Washing machine, dishwasher, wood burning stove, WiFi, bed linen. There's a garden with a BBQ. Parking is on site. You can bring up to three dogs.
One thing: because it's on an estate with other holiday lets, you can sometimes book more than one property together if you've got a really big group.
