Tigh-na-Drisean, near Blackwaterfoot is a peaceful and tranquil escape from everyday busy life. The property has been a well-loved family home for years and now offers guests the chance to relax and unwind in this countryside location. The family own the surrounding farmland so guests can enjoy a real back-to-nature experience as they can get an up close look at the lambs, sheep, cows and horses grazing over the garden wall. The property is located up a track off the main road, and looks out over fields and across to the spectacular ’Sleeping Warrior’ mountains. The rear patio area is perfect for barbecues and relaxing around the firepit with a glass of wine while taking in these countryside views. Spectacular views of Blackwaterfoot beach, the Mull of Kintyre and Machrie Bay can be enjoyed from halfway up Balgowan Hill, to the right of the cottage for those who enjoy a gentle walk, and historians will love the site of Ballygowan Fort, an ancient burial ground on top of Balgowan Hill.
Inside the property is a fusion of traditional and modern. Traditional furniture throughout gives the feel of being in a country farmhouse yet the modern technology of Apple TV and Bluetooth speakers keeps the guests up to date with the modern world. The main living room has comfy sofas to relax in after a day exploring the island. The dining room has an additional cuddle sofa and a wood burner, making this a cosy room to enjoy meals together or for kids to watch a DVD.
The village of Blackwaterfoot is an easy 1 mile stroll away or you can flag down the buses in both directions at the bottom of the farm track if you’d prefer to leave your car at home. Blackwaterfoot has a convenience store, bakers, butchers and hotel with leisure facilities including an indoor pool which is great for rainy days. The village offers three restaurants plus a handy café. Shiskine Golf Course has been called ’the best 12 hole golf course in the world’ and consistently features in the top 100 most beautiful courses. Additionally the golf club offers a putting green, tennis courts and bowling green and the clubhouse has a delicious selection of hot food and baked goods. The beach at Blackwaterfoot has always been a favourite with families for days out, making this area the place to return each year.
