Glenkens Lodge is our place near Kendoon. It's a lodge we built ourselves, for two people. One bedroom, one bathroom. It's a 4 Star rating.
It's detached and sits on its own in the fields. The main thing is the view. It's a big panorama across the Glenkens valley. You get it from inside and from the covered veranda.
The building is all open plan. There's a wood burning stove for cooler nights. The shower is modern. The kitchen has a dishwasher. There's parking right there.
You're quite remote here. The nearest proper village is Dalry, a few minutes down the road. It has a small shop and a decent pub that does food. For a bigger shop, Castle Douglas is about a twenty minute drive. It's a food town with good butchers and bakers.
If you like walking, the Southern Upland Way passes close by. The area is good for cycling on quiet roads. For mountain biking, the 7stanes trails at Glentrool and Kirroughtree are within half an hour. The skies are very dark at night, which is good for stargazing.
The coast is about forty minutes away. You can get to places like the harbour at Kirkcudbright or the beaches at Sandyhills.
Bedding and towels are included. There's WiFi and a TV. No pets, sorry.
