Happy House

Happy House is in Roedean, which is a quieter bit of Brighton up on the cliffs. It's basically on the edge of the pitch and putt golf course. You get a good view of the sea and the Marina from the upstairs windows and the garden.

It's a 4 Star place. Two bedrooms, sleeps four. One has a double bed with the sea view, the other is smaller with a single bed and a pull-out trundle underneath. There's one bathroom with a shower over the bath. Downstairs is open plan: kitchen, living area, and doors out to the garden.

The garden is on two levels. There's a lawn and then a raised patio with a table and chairs. That's where you get the best view. You can see right along the coast. There are two private parking spaces at the bottom.

You're a decent walk from the beach, maybe 20-25 minutes down into town. It's all downhill on the way there. The walk back up is a proper hill, so be ready for that. The South Downs National Park starts just behind you, so you can get straight out for walks without going into the city.

Brighton Marina is about a ten minute walk downhill. They've got restaurants, a cinema, bowling, and boat trips. The city centre with the Lanes, the Pier, and everything else is a bit further. It's easier to drive or get a bus if you're going to the Pavilion or the North Laine.

The house has the usual stuff: WiFi, Smart TVs, washing machine, dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring one well-behaved dog. The garden is enclosed but it's not totally escape-proof for a determined dog, so just keep an eye out.

Useful links: Brighton & Hove City Council for local info, and the National Trust South East page for places like Birling Gap and Cuckmere Haven, which are about half an hour's drive along the coast.
