Fishponds Cottage is in Stormontfield, near Perth. It's ten minutes from Perth by car. The cottage is down a single track lane at the end, so it's very quiet. You get the feeling of being away from things.
It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, one bathroom. You can bring up to two dogs. It has a 4 Star rating. The building is from the 1800s and was originally for the river keeper at the old salmon hatchery. You can see the ruins of the fishponds from the garden.
The main thing is the garden and the river. The garden is big and it leads straight down to the River Tay. You can walk along the riverbank from the property. There’s also a lade trail nearby that goes along to a small beach area called Horsey Pool, and on to Stanley Mills.
This is a very good spot for wildlife. People regularly see beavers and otters on the lade. Ospreys, herons, kingfishers are common. The River Tay is a major salmon river. If you're interested in fishing, you can arrange it directly with me, the owner.
Perth has shops, restaurants, and things like that. Scone Palace is on the grounds, which is historic. It's the crowning place of Scottish kings and is open to visitors.
For golf, St Andrews and Gleneagles are within about half an hour's drive. There are other local courses too.
Facilities: there's a woodburning stove, a BBQ, bike storage, and on-site parking. The garden and patio are yours. It has WiFi, TV, a washing machine, and a cot and highchair if you need them. Bedding and towels are included.
