Shepherd's Loft Benson

Shepherd's Loft is a first-floor studio apartment above our garage. It's in Benson, Oxfordshire, in the countryside. It sleeps two.

It's a 4 Star place. It's clean and modern. The stairs up are fine, but they are a bit steep at the top, just so you know.

The main room is open-plan. There's a kitchen area, a sofa, and the bed. There's one shower room downstairs by the entrance. You get bedding and towels. There's no washing machine on site, so it's best for shorter breaks.

It's a quiet, rural spot. You get views over the paddock from the Velux window. We keep chickens, so you'll hear them sometimes. We usually leave some eggs for you in the kitchen.

You might see red kites from the window. There's a table and chairs up in the top paddock if you want to sit and watch the sunset. It gets very dark at night, so the stars are good.

There's a parking space right outside. The garden around the garage is for you to use. There's a BBQ there.

The nearest shop is in Benson, about two miles away. There's no real public transport from right here. A couple of good local pubs are in Wallingford, which is a few minutes' drive. Wallingford has places to eat, but some close early on Sundays.

For walking, you're right on the edge of the Chilterns. The Ridgeway path is close by. For visits, Henley-on-Thames is about 20 minutes by car. There are several National Trust places within half an hour, like Greys Court and Basildon Park.

Didcot Railway Centre is about 15 minutes away if you like trains. For a good view, Wittenham Clumps is a short drive.
