This is Shepherd's Loft. It's a first-floor studio apartment above our garage in Benson. The main house is next door, we built it ourselves.
It sleeps two. One open room with a bed, sofa, and kitchen area at the top of the stairs, and a shower room on the ground floor. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's clean and modern, but it's not huge. Best for a short break.
You're in the countryside here. The nearest shop is in Benson, a couple of miles down the road. There's no public transport, so you'll need a car. We've got free-range chickens, so you'll get some fresh eggs. You can see red kites from the Velux window.
The garden and the top paddock are for you to use. There's a table and chairs up in the paddock for watching the sunset. At night, with little light pollution, you can see a lot of stars.
There's no washing machine on site, or nearby. That's the main thing. So it's really for stays of a week or less.
For things to do, Wallingford is close and has pubs and restaurants. Henley-on-Thames is about a 20-minute drive. There are a few National Trust places within half an hour, like Greys Court, Basildon Park, and Nuffield Place. The Didcot Railway Centre is about 15 minutes away if you like steam trains.
Facilities: there's parking, WiFi, a TV, and an enclosed patio. Bedding and towels are included. No pets.
