The Organic Cabin Horsington Marsh

The Organic Cabin is on our farm in Horsington Marsh. It's all on one level, which is good if stairs are a problem. There's polished concrete flooring with underfloor heating, so it's usually quite warm underfoot.

It sleeps four in two double bedrooms. There's one shower room. It's a 4 Star place, so it's comfortable and well looked after. We've tried to keep things simple and use local, organic stuff where we can. You'll get a welcome hamper with some eggs, local cider, milk, tea, and coffee.

You're on a working farm with 22 acres. You're welcome to wander. There's a treehouse for kids, you can see the animals, and there's a nature trail. The hay barn is popular. The garden is shared with the other cottage next door, it looks onto the stable yard.

There's a natural swimming pond. It's rainwater, cleaned by plants, not chemicals. It's there all year if you fancy a dip.

Being a farm, it's dark at night. We're in a Dark Sky area, so if it's clear, the stars are very good.

Facilities: you've got a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking right there. We allow up to two dogs.

The village is quiet. For things to do, Bruton with the Hauser & Wirth gallery is about 20 minutes away. Sherborne with its abbey is maybe 25 minutes. Glastonbury is half an hour. There's a riding school very close by. For walks and general information, the Visit Somerset site is useful, and the National Trust has nearby places like Stourhead.
