The Bottom Byre is a detached cottage on a farm just outside Maybole. It’s quiet here, just fields and sky. You’ll need a car.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms and one bathroom. The living space is all open plan. The rating is 4 Star, so it’s well kept and comfortable. It’s got underfloor heating, which is nice when it’s cold outside.
There’s a private patio with a table and chairs. Parking is right outside the door.
You’re about three miles from the coast at Maidens. It’s a sandy beach. From there, you can walk right up into the grounds of Culzean Castle. The views from the cliffs there are something else, looking out to Arran. The castle itself is worth a visit. For walks, the Ayrshire Coastal Path runs along here.
Maybole has shops and places to eat, it’s only a few minutes’ drive. Prestwick and Troon are along the coast, they’re proper seaside towns.
If you're into golf, Turnberry is ten minutes away. Royal Troon isn't much further.
Within half an hour you can get into the Galloway Forest Park. It’s huge. Good for a proper walk if you want to see some wild country. It’s also a Dark Sky Park, if you’re interested in that.
Useful links for planning: Culzean Castle, Galloway Forest Park, and the Ayrshire Coastal Path.
Facilities: it's got a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, TV. Bedding and towels are included. There’s a cot and a highchair if you need them. No pets, sorry.
You can book it together with the Dairy Cottage next door if you’re a larger group.
