This is Mortimer Cottage, in Wootton Rivers. It's a thatched cottage, 17th century. Grade II listed, so it's old and full of character. It's detached, which you don't always get with these places.
It sleeps five. Two bedrooms, plus an extra day bed in a sort of annex off the main bedroom. There are two bathrooms, one is a shower room downstairs, the other is a bathroom upstairs with a roll-top bath.
You should know the stairs are steep. There are two staircases, one from the dining room, one from the living room. The ceilings upstairs are low in places. The driveway fits two small cars or one big one. There's a private courtyard garden.
The pub is right opposite. It's thatched as well. The village is quiet but good for walks. The Kennet and Avon canal is a short walk away.
Marlborough is about five miles. It's a proper market town with a wide high street, shops, and a market on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Avebury is also about five miles away. It's a stone circle, managed by the National Trust. Worth a visit.
You're well placed for exploring. The Cotswolds are accessible. Pewsey train station isn't far if you need to get to London. You do need a car to stay here though.
It's got a 4 Star rating. Facilities are what you'd expect: wood burner, wifi, TV, dishwasher, washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. The property accepts up to two pets.
