October Cottage Aughton

This is October Cottage. It's in Aughton, near Marlborough. A quiet hamlet, really. It's detached, so no shared walls.

It's a thatched cottage. Grade II listed, which means it's old and looked after. The roof is low in places, which is normal for these places. It sleeps four. Two proper bedrooms upstairs and one bathroom. The stairs are wooden and cottagey. They're quite steep and a bit narrow. There's a stairgate at the bottom if you need it.

The big thing is the garden. It's a good size and completely private. Enclosed with a fence, so it's safe for a dog or kids. There's a patio area too.

Inside, it's been done up to be comfortable. It's got a washing machine. Bedding is included. There's a cot in the cupboard. Internet works. You can park right at the cottage.

There's a pub with a restaurant about half a mile up the road. Decent food. The nearest shop is about two miles away in Marlborough.

For getting out, you're in a good spot. The Avenue at Savernake Forest is just down the road. Stonehenge is about 25 minutes by car. Stourhead is a bit further, maybe 40 minutes. And Bath is just under an hour's drive if you fancy that.

The rating is 3 Star. That feels right. It means it's comfortable and clean, not a fancy hotel. You're welcome to bring one dog.
