Alma House Marlborough

Alma House is in Marlborough, just off the High Street on a cobbled lane. It's a big, old coach house, so it's got those thick walls and low beams. It sleeps eight, in four bedrooms. There are two bathrooms.

The layout is a bit unusual because it's on three floors and has two staircases. One set of stairs goes to the main three bedrooms and bathroom. The other, narrower staircase goes up from one of the king bedrooms to a fourth bedroom in the eaves. That one's got sloping ceilings. All the stairs are the original cottage kind, so they're steep and a bit uneven in places. Just take your time.

It's got a 5 Star rating, which really means it's well equipped and finished to a high standard. There's a wood burner in the living room and we leave you plenty of logs. The kitchen has a range cooker and a lot of kit, like a bread maker. The dining room table seats everyone.

Outside, there's a small front patio with a table and chairs. Parking is on the street right outside.

You can bring up to two dogs.

You're right in the middle of Marlborough. The High Street, with all its shops, cafes, and pubs, is a one-minute walk. There's a market on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

For things to do, Avebury is about a 20-minute drive. It's a stone circle you can walk right around. Silbury Hill is just next to it. The Savernake Forest is great for a walk and is only ten minutes away by car.

Within a 30-minute drive you've also got the Vale of Pewsey for walking. Further out, but still under an hour, you can get to places like Stonehenge, Bowood House, or Stourhead.
