Cheviot Cottage is an old croft cottage that has been thoughtfully extended to accommodate for up to six people. Set in the far north of Scotland in the small crofting community of Forse near to historic Lybster, Cheviot Cottage enjoys a rural location with sea views only a stone’s throw away from the NC500. It’s the perfect location to explore the north of Scotland. Pulling off the NC500 Cheviot Cottage has a spacious driveway with a large garden. Round the back of the house, it’s very private with views across surrounding fields and out to sea. There’s a sheltered patio area with seating and a BBQ is available. It’s a lovely spot in the summer to stay up late into the night when it doesn’t get dark, and equally winter is awesome because the chance of seeing the Northern Lights is very, very good.
Entering the property at the back door you have a very useful utility space and general boot/drying room. The fridge/freezer is in the utility space. Stepping up one step into the open-plan kitchen/dining/living room you can immediately see what a great job the owner has made of the restoration. This open-plan space was the adjoining barn to the croft cottage. The kitchen is very well equipped for cooks to rustle up meals, the dining and living room spaces are roomy. Beyond the living space is the bunk room with en-suite toilet. This bunk room was actually the old cow byre. Back to the kitchen and stepping up again into the original croft cottage there are two further bedrooms, both spacious doubles, as well as the family bathroom and a sunroom/conservatory. It’s a cracking cottage that families will enjoy immensely. Especially as you are so well placed to make the most of the amazing surrounds.
Lybster is your closest village, and it has a shop as well as places to eat & drink. It has a little beach by the historic harbour and there is also a quirky wee golf course. Wick and Thurso are not far away, and beyond there are countless places to mention for you to fill many weeks holidaying here at Cheviot Cottage. Reiss Sands, Duncansby Head, John O’Groats, the Orkney Islands, the Castle of Mey and Dunnet Head to name only a handful of places. Get planning and you’ll be richly awarded by staying at Cheviot Cottage. Beach 4 miles.
