Seamstress Cottage is in Ripponden. It's mid-terraced, built from stone. It was completely redone in 2021, so everything is fresh and works properly.
It sleeps six. There are three bedrooms and two bathrooms. You get a double on the first floor with a shower room, another double up there, and then the main bedroom is on the second floor under a beamed vaulted ceiling. That one has an en-suite with a roll top bath.
The main living space is open plan. There's a wood burning stove for colder nights. The best part is the balcony off the living area. It has a long view over the valley. They filmed 'Last Tango in Halifax' and 'Gentleman Jack' around here, so you'll recognise the landscape.
Ripponden village is a five minute walk down the hill. There are a couple of proper old pubs and some newer bars and restaurants. It's a good base.
You're really well placed for walking. The Pennine Way runs over Blackstone Edge, which is just above the valley. For a longer drive, you're roughly between the Yorkshire Dales and the Peak District. Both are within half an hour or so.
Hebden Bridge is about a 15 minute drive. It's got its own thing going on with independent shops and cafes. Halifax is about 20 minutes away. The Piece Hall there is worth a look. Shibden Hall, from 'Gentleman Jack', is also about 20 minutes.
Inside, you've got a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and the wood burner. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring one well-behaved dog.
