The Stables

The Stables is in Aisby, which is near Grantham in Lincolnshire. It's a detached stone cottage that used to be part of the farmyard. You get the whole walled garden to yourselves, which is gated and private.

It sleeps eight people. There are four bedrooms and two bathrooms. Most of it is on the ground floor, which is handy. It's got a 5 Star rating, which means everything is in good order and well-finished. It has underfloor heating and a wood burner.

The stairs to the first-floor bedroom are a normal flight, but they're a bit narrower at the top where the old roof line is. Just watch your head.

There's a pub about a mile down the road. It's a 15-minute walk if you don't mind the lane. They do food and real ales. The proper shop is about four miles away in the village.

You can walk straight out from the door onto the footpaths. The lanes are quiet, good for cycling if you bring bikes. There's storage here for them.

For days out, Lincoln is about half an hour by car. The cathedral is up on the hill. Stamford and Newark are a similar drive. If you're interested in the war history, the Lincolnshire Aviation Centre and the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight aren't far. Rutland Water is about 40 minutes away for cycling or watersports.

Facilities: there's a washing machine, dishwasher, TV, and WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking right outside. You can bring one well-behaved dog. There's a BBQ in the garden.
