Rivendell
A semi-detached within the owner’s property, Rivendell is on the outskirts of the village of Fort Augustus, set within a quiet plot enjoying views of the high hills of the Glendoe Forest and glimpses of Loch Ness. The shared garden has four friendly hens roaming around, and there is a private patio area with outdoor seating and a barbecue.
Stepping into the property, Rivendell is immediately pleasing as the owners have finished it to a good standard. All on one level, you enter into the spacious hallway that is perfect for coats and boots after long days exploring the Scottish Highlands. You will also want to linger in the hall because there is a large OS map hanging on the wall showing where you are and what surrounds you. It is inviting and will entice you to explore the surrounds on foot, by bike and of course in the car to get the most out of your time at Rivendell. The hallway leads along the property, first passing a bright, fresh and spacious shower room with walk-in shower. Then there is a double bedroom with view to the private area of the shared garden. The twin room is also on the left of the hallway and looks over the private patio area. Both bedrooms are inviting, comfortable places to rest with a lot of wardrobe space. The open-plan living/kitchen/dining room is a fantastic space. Views are enjoyed across the glen to the high hills of the Scottish Highlands. The seating area is comfortable and has a corner sofa, which angles perfectly back towards the kitchen and dining space as well as Smart TV mounted on the wall. It is a perfect area to relax in after days out exploring. The kitchen is well-equipped with all modern appliances you will wish for, even a pod coffee maker. The space would be enjoyed by a family or a set of friends.
Being based in Fort Augustus really is a treat for exploring the Scottish Highlands. On the shores of Loch Ness you have a world-famous and mystical destination to explore at ease, including being able to simply hop onto a boat tour to see if you can spot Nessie. However, the real advantage of Fort Augustus as a base is its centrality in the Highlands, you are 50 minutes from both Inverness and Fort William. Going to Inverness is a great idea, you will drive along Loch Ness to reach the city and be able to visit historic Urqhuart Castle on the way. Once in Inverness there’s a lot to see, including another castle, Botanic Gardens, a cathedral and of course there are many bars, restaurants and cafés to enjoy. Just outside the city centre to the east is the famous Culloden Battlefield, which Outlander fans will want to pilgrimage to see. Heading west and south from Rivendell Cottage you can reach the Isle of Skye and of course Fort William. Skye makes for an excellent day trip. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile.
