Murlin is our house in Collieston, Aberdeenshire. It’s detached and looks out over the coast. You can see the sea from most of the windows.
It sleeps eight. Four bedrooms, each with its own shower room. Five bathrooms total, which is handy with a full house. Everything is on one level upstairs: kitchen, dining area, living space. The doors slide open onto a balcony. Downstairs has the bedrooms and a utility room with a washer and dryer.
There’s a double garage you can use. We keep a couple of dog crates in there, and there’s a shower for washing off muddy dogs or sandy kids. The garden is enclosed. It’s got a patio with a gas barbecue and some furniture.
The stairs inside are a fine, normal staircase. The slope from the road down to the front door is quite steep. There’s a level, wheelchair-accessible entrance from the garage into the ground floor.
Collieston is a small village. The beach is about a three-minute walk away. The shop is six miles away in Ellon, so you’ll want to bring supplies. There’s a pub and restaurant about five miles away.
For days out, Newburgh beach is close and you can often see seals there. There are several golf courses nearby, like Cruden Bay and Trump International, all within a ten-mile drive. If you want a city, Aberdeen is about sixteen miles away. It’s an easy drive.
