The Grousemoor is in Llandegla, Denbighshire. It’s a big detached house, a former country hotel. It sleeps fifteen, across seven bedrooms, and each bedroom has its own ensuite bathroom. So nobody's queuing for the shower. It has a 5 Star rating, which means it's well equipped and comfortable. You can bring two dogs.
Downstairs is mostly open plan. There's a large living area with a wood burner, a big dining table that seats everyone, and a proper bar. The bar can be stocked for you if you arrange it in advance. The kitchen has everything, including an Aga, a professional coffee machine, and a big breakfast bar. There are two ground-floor bedrooms with wheelchair access. One has a kingsize bed and an ensuite shower, the other has a super kingsize zip-and-link and an ensuite bath.
Upstairs there are five more bedrooms. Three are standard doubles or kingsize rooms with ensuites. The other two form the Pheasant Suite, which is like a little apartment with its own living room and kitchenette. All rooms have bathrobes and toiletries.
Outside, there's a large terrace with garden furniture, two gas barbecues, and even a couple of outdoor showers. The views over the fields and hills are very good.
It's right on the Offa’s Dyke Path, so it's perfect for walkers. The mountain bike trails in Coed Llandegla are literally on the doorstep. There's a restaurant about a quarter of a mile away.
Llangollen is about nine miles. You can go to the Horseshoe Pass, or walk up to the ruins of Castell Dinas Bran for the view. For other activities, clay pigeon shooting is nearby at Fauxdegla.
Facilities include all the things you'd expect: WiFi, TVs, washing machine, dishwasher, bedding and towels included. There's plenty of parking. It's also a licensed wedding venue, so you could combine a holiday with a ceremony.
