The Grousemoor

The Grousemoor is in Llandegla, Denbighshire. It's a big, detached place that was a country hotel and is still a licensed wedding venue. So it's set up for large groups. It sleeps fifteen across seven bedrooms, and they all have their own bathroom.

It's got a five star rating and I would call it luxury. It's very well-equipped and feels more like a high-end hotel than a cottage. The main living area is huge and open-plan, with a wood burner, sofas, a big dining table for everyone, and its own bar. You can even have the bar stocked if you want.

The kitchen is serious. There's a four oven Aga, a proper coffee machine, smoothie maker, the lot. It's not a basic holiday let kitchen at all.

There are two bedrooms on the ground floor with wheelchair access. Upstairs, the bedrooms are all named after birds and are quite grand, some with roll-top baths. One is a two-bedroom suite with its own little living room and kitchen.

Outside, there's a large terrace with garden furniture and really good views over the countryside. There are two gas barbecues, outdoor showers, and toilets.

For things to do, you're right on the Offa's Dyke Path, so walking and cycling from the door is easy. There's mountain biking at Coed Llandegla, clay shooting nearby, and other activities like white-water rafting within a short drive.

Llangollen is about nine miles away, a 20 minute drive. It's a good day out. You can go up the Horseshoe Pass, see the falls, or walk up to Castell Dinas Bran for the views. There's a restaurant about a quarter of a mile from the house.

Facilities: everything you'd expect is included. Wifi, TVs, bedding, towels, washing machine, dishwasher, cot. Parking on site. They allow up to two dogs.
