Pheasant Lodge is a single-storey lodge set back from the road in Billesdon. There’s another one next door, Laurel Lodge, so you’re not completely on your own out here. It’s quiet.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, both doubles, and one bathroom with a walk-in shower. It has a 4 Star rating. Everything is on one level.
The main room is open plan. Kitchen area at one end, sofa and TV at the other. The patio doors open out onto your own deck with a table and chairs. The hot tub is out there too. The view is over fields towards Billesdon Coplow, which is that wooded hill you can see.
The owner lives on the farm. They can sometimes sort out stabling if you want to bring a horse, and there’s a paddock. You can bring one dog.
You can walk from the door straight into the countryside. For a proper day out, Rutland Water is about a 20-minute drive. You can hire bikes, walk the perimeter, or sail. The towns of Market Harborough, Oakham and Uppingham are all within half an hour and have decent markets and places to eat.
Leicester is under 10 miles away if you need a big shop or want to go to the cinema. The National Space Centre is there too, which is good for a wet day.
What’s here: the hot tub, your own decked area, parking right outside, WiFi, a TV. All the bedding and towels are included. The washing machine is in a utility room you share with the other lodge.
