The Cottage High Wykehurst End
The Cottage High Wykehurst End is in Ewhurst, in the Surrey Hills. It's detached, but we live next door in the main house. You get your own parking behind a gate, down a shared lane.
It sleeps two people. There are two bedrooms and one bathroom. It's got a 5 Star rating, which means it's well equipped and finished to a high standard. The layout is a bit unusual. The main living area is open plan, on the ground floor. The double bedroom is a few steps down from there, on a lower ground floor. It has an en-suite shower room and doors out to the patio. The second bedroom is up a ladder-style staircase in the attic. It's more of a second sleeping space, really, with two single beds.
The stairs to the attic are steep and ladder-like. The steps down to the bedroom are fine, but you should be aware of the change in level.
You have a private patio at the back with a gas BBQ and a firepit. The wider two-acre garden belongs to us. My wife is a garden designer, so it's a nice space to look at or wander through.
There's a village shop and a gastropub, both less than a mile away. The pub has been done up recently and does food. For walking, you can start right from the gate. The paths range from flat to hilly. The Surrey Hills website has good route ideas.
Within about half an hour you can get to Guildford, Dorking, or Horsham. Hurtwood Park Polo Club is just down the road if that's of interest. The National Trust has several properties nearby like Polesden Lacey.
Facilities include a dishwasher, washing machine, WiFi, and TV. Bedding and towels are provided. The property has air conditioning in the main living area. Sorry, no pets.
