Cuckoo's Nest is up in Cove, on the edge of Loch Ewe. It's a detached house on a croft, so there's just open land around you. The view from the front is across the loch. The weather changes every five minutes.
It sleeps five. Three bedrooms, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. Everything works and it's clean. There's an open fire in the living room. The kitchen has what you'd need, including a dishwasher and a washing machine. The shower is good.
You can take two dogs. The garden is enclosed, more of a patch really, but it's fine for them. There's a utility room with a tiled floor for muddy boots and paws.
You can walk down to the shore from the house. There's a small bay with a slipway. You can fish from there or launch a kayak if you have one. We see otters and seals quite often. Porpoises sometimes. The local beach, Firemore, is about a mile away. It's sandy and the colour is a bit reddish.
Poolewe is eight miles away. That's where the nearest shop and a couple of places to eat are. There's a market there on Tuesdays in the warmer months. Inverewe Garden is there too, right on the lochside. Gairloch is a bit further, maybe sixteen miles. There's more there.
There's a lot of history around here from the war. You can see old bunkers. The Russian Convoy Museum is in Aultbea if you're interested.
You're on the North Coast 500 route, so it's a good base if you're driving it. For planning, the NC500 website is useful, and the Walkhighlands page for this area has good walking routes.
Facilities: parking right there, WiFi, TV, bedding and towels included, there's a cot and highchair. No golf right next door, but there is a course within driving distance.
