Tote Cottage is a croft house on Skye. It's detached, right next to my place. The front looks out over Loch Snizort and the Skeabost Hotel with its golf course. The view is really something.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms upstairs, one double and one twin. One bathroom is downstairs. It's a 4 Star, so it's comfortable and well-kept. The stairs go up from the middle of the ground floor.
You come in at the back. Inside, it's more spacious than it looks from outside. To the right is a good sized kitchen with a dining table. To the left is the living room with a wood burner. Both rooms have that big view over the valley and the loch.
The garden at the front is enclosed and quite large. It runs down towards the water, but there's croft land with cattle grazing before you get to the bottom. You'll probably see some Highland cows.
You're in the crofting community of Tote, near Skeabost Bridge. Portree is about five miles south for shops, a pub, and places to eat.
For things to see, you're well placed. The Fairy Glen is about 15 minutes by car. The Quiraing and the Old Man of Storr are about 25 minutes. Dunvegan Castle, the Talisker Distillery, and the Cuillin are all within about half an hour.
Just down from the cottage, past the old bridge, is St. Columba's Isle. It's an old burial ground with a medieval church and an 11th century chapel. It's a short walk and an interesting place.
Facilities: there's parking, a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a highchair if needed. The garden is enclosed. It's listed as wheelchair accessible at the entrance.
