Mill Of Burncrook

Mill of Burncrook is on the Glenlivet Estate. It's a detached house on its own drive. Honestly, it's nicer than my house. It's got a 5 star rating, which means it's been done to a high standard.

It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms. All the bedrooms are named after whiskies, which is a theme round here. The master bedroom looks out over the burn. The main bathroom is big, with a bath for a proper soak.

There's a lot of space inside. Two living areas, which is handy. One's a main room with big windows and a wood burner, the other is a smaller snug with another burner. The kitchen is serious. It's got an Aga, an induction wok, one of those instant boiling water taps. If you like cooking, you'll be sorted.

Outside, there are two balcony areas. One has a hot tub. The views are just fields, hills, trees. It's very quiet.

You're right in the middle of the Malt Whisky Trail here. Dufftown, which has nine distilleries, is about five miles away. Glenlivet Estate itself has walking and mountain bike trails starting from the door.

For other things to do, Ballindalloch Castle is close. The coast at places like Cullen or Lossiemouth is under an hour's drive. Good beaches there. Aviemore is about 36 miles if you want more shops or to go up the Cairngorm mountain railway. For skiing in season, The Lecht is 17 miles away.

It says pets are allowed, up to two dogs. The facilities list is pretty complete: washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, parking. Bedding and towels are included. The shop and nearest pub are about nine miles away in Tomintoul, so you'll want to come with supplies.

A couple of useful links if you're planning: Cairngorms National Park and Visit Scotland Whisky.
