Woodside Cottage Glen Rinnes

Woodside Cottage is on our family farm in Glen Rinnes, about ten minutes outside Dufftown. It’s a detached house, so just you. You’re down its own track, surrounded by woods and fields. Twenty four acres sounds grand, but it’s just our land. You can walk around all of it.

The garden at the back looks straight up the hill to Ben Rinnes. You’ll see deer most days. We have some hens, so if they’re laying you can help yourself to eggs. It’s quiet.

Inside, it sleeps five in three bedrooms. There’s one bathroom. It’s got a 4 Star rating. That means it’s well kept and comfortable. There’s a woodburning stove for cooler nights. The heating is electric and it’s all included. You get bedding and towels.

We allow two dogs. The garden is enclosed, but it’s not Fort Knox. A determined dog could find a way out, so you’ll need to keep an eye on them. We have bike storage if you bring them.

You’re four miles from a shop and a pub in Tomintoul. The pub does food. Dufftown has more options, that’s about ten minutes by car. It’s whisky country. The Speyside Way runs nearby if you like walking.

For a day out, the Cairngorms National Park is on your doorstep. You can drive to the Lecht ski centre in under half an hour in winter. Balmoral Castle is about forty minutes away. Aberdeen is just over an hour if you need a city.
