Stonylea Cottage is in Cumbernauld, up in the hills inside Palacerigg Country Park. It's detached, so there's no one attached to you. The park is about 700 acres, mostly grassland and woodland with some ponds. You'll see deer and birds of prey from the windows. Foxes and badgers too, if you're out at the right time.
It sleeps five in two bedrooms. There's one bathroom. It's a 3 Star cottage, so it's comfortable and clean. The garden is enclosed, which is good if you're bringing dogs. Speaking of which, we do take pets, up to four.
You can walk straight from the door into the park. There are nature trails and old mine workings from the fireclay industry. The cottage is right on the edge of a golf course. Horse riding is about half a mile away.
For shops you'll need to drive about three miles. There's a pub that does food a mile away.
Location-wise, you're about half an hour's drive from Glasgow and the same from Stirling. Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park is about 45 minutes if you fancy that. It's a good base if you want to mix city days with being out in the country.
Facilities: there's a woodburning stove, WiFi, a TV, and a washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. We've got a cot, a highchair, and a stairgate if you need them. Parking is on site.
