It's a water mill on the River Dee. You get the weir noise, which is constant, like a waterfall in the garden. If you like that sort of thing, it's perfect. If you need total quiet, it's maybe not for you.
The place sleeps ten. Five bedrooms, two bathrooms. It's got a 3 Star rating, so it's clean and works, but don't expect a show home. It's an old mill.
The stairs are the main thing. They're spiral and quite steep. You need to watch your step. That goes for the ones leading down to the waterwheel room too. Fine for most, but tricky for anyone unsteady.
There's a balcony that sticks out over the river. You can sit there with a drink and watch the water. The garden is yours, and it runs right down to the bank. You're surrounded by trees, so it feels private.
The pub is about 500 yards up the lane. The Boat Inn. Decent food, good beer garden by the river.
Llangollen is a fifteen minute drive. It's a nice town for a wander, some shops and cafes. You can get a steam train from there. Llangollen Railway. Chirk Castle is about twenty minutes away, that's National Trust. Chester is half an hour if you want the city, the zoo, or the racecourse.
For walks, you're right on the Dee Valley Walk. The Chirk Castle estate walks are good. The Snowdonia National Park is about forty minutes drive for bigger hills.
Facilities: it's detached, so no neighbours on the other side. There's a dishwasher, a TV, WiFi, a patio with furniture. Bedding and towels are included. Parking for three cars on the gravel. No pets.
