The Knock is in Inverey on the Mar Estate. It's a traditional stone house, detached, at the edge of some woodland. The main thing is the view. You look straight out across the Dee Valley towards Ben Macdui.
It sleeps eight people. Four bedrooms, three bathrooms. It's a 4 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and well-equipped. It's spacious, so a group isn't on top of each other. There's underfloor heating and a woodburning stove if you need it.
The facilities cover what you'd need: wifi, TV, dishwasher, washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and highchair if required. You can bring one well-behaved dog.
Outside, there's a patio and garden area with that view. Plenty of parking right there.
You're properly in the Cairngorms National Park here. You can walk straight from the door. Deer are around the estate all the time. The nearest shop and pub are in Braemar, about four miles away.
Braemar has the castle and the Highland Games in September. Royal Deeside is all around, so Balmoral Estate is a short drive. For skiing in winter, Glenshee is close by.
If you're planning walks or days out, these sites are useful: Cairngorms National Park, Balmoral Estate, and National Trust for Scotland Mar Lodge Estate.
