The Stables is what it says on the tin, it’s the old stables on our farm here in Marksbury, converted into a cottage. It’s all on one level, which is handy.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms and one bathroom. That bathroom is a wet room, which means it’s all tiled and the shower is level with the floor. The doorways are wide and there’s a ramp to the front and back doors, so it works well for wheelchairs.
You’ve got your own enclosed garden out the back. It’s a sun-trap in the afternoon. You look out over our fields. We’re a working farm, so you’ll see sheep and hear tractors, but you’re at the end of the lane so it’s quiet.
Inside, it’s open plan. There’s a kitchen area, a dining table, and the sitting area all in one space. It’s got a 4 Star rating, so it’s comfortable and well-equipped. There’s a dishwasher, a washing machine, WiFi, and parking right outside.
We’re on the edge of the village. There’s a shop about a five-minute walk away for basics. The pub is about ten minutes on foot, they do decent food.
Location wise, Bath is about a 15-minute drive. Bristol is around 20 minutes. We’re in the middle of the countryside, so if you drive for half an hour you can get to a lot. Wells Cathedral is about 30 minutes. Glastonbury Tor is similar. Cheddar Gorge and Wookey Hole are within that range too.
You’re welcome to bring one dog. We ask that you keep it on a lead around the farm animals, of course. We can provide a cot and a highchair if you need them. All the bedding and towels are included.
