Toad Hall Cottage
Toad Hall Cottage is in White Colne, on the north Essex border. It's detached, but it's in the garden of our main house. You get your own space, though. We're at the end of a lane, so it's quiet.
It's a 5 Star property, which means it's well-equipped and comfortable. It sleeps two, one bedroom and one bathroom. Everything's on the ground floor, which makes it straightforward.
The main room is open plan. Doors lead out to a deck. There's a hot tub out there, and a private garden area. The hot tub looks out over the fields. There's a wood burner for cooler evenings.
Earls Colne village is about a 15 minute walk. There's a shop and a couple of pubs there. For a wider choice, you'd drive. The train station at Chappel and Wakes Colne is under two miles away. That line gets you to London in about an hour.
Local places to visit include Long Melford, Lavenham, and Finchingfield. Sudbury and Constable Country are close. Colchester is about nine miles for the castle and shopping. The coast at Mersea or Frinton is roughly half an hour by car.
Facilities include a dishwasher, TV, bedding and towels, and parking right outside. There's an electric vehicle charger. No pets, sorry.
