The Dun Cow

The Dun Cow is in Bishop Middleham. It's a semi-detached house, slept in by a lot of bishops in the old days, apparently. The sign above the door matches a carving on Durham Cathedral, which is a talking point.

It sleeps eight people. Five bedrooms, two bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's a big, solid house, good for a family gathering. The garden's enclosed, which is handy if you've got dogs or kids. There's a decked area with furniture.

You're right in the village. There's a shop and a pub a few minutes' walk away. The pub's popular. The shop has the basics.

Durham city is about eight miles away. That's where the cathedral and castle are. It's a UNESCO site. There's a theatre, restaurants, and markets. The Durham Cathedral and Durham World Heritage Site websites have visiting information. The coast at Seaham is about fourteen miles if you fancy the beach.

For walking, there are public footpaths straight from the village out into the county. You can drive to the North York Moors or the North Pennines in under an hour.

Inside, there's a woodburning stove, which is nice in the winter. We leave the first bag of logs. It's got WiFi, a TV, a dishwasher and washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. There's a highchair and a stairgate. You can bring up to two dogs. Parking is on the drive.
