Calf House Cottage is on our dairy farm in Mordon, just outside Sedgefield. It’s a converted cottage with two bedrooms that sleeps four. We did it up last year. It’s got underfloor heating which works a treat in winter.
The main room is open plan with a kitchen, dining table and living area. It’s a nice space. Big windows so you can see the cattle. They’re a fair bit of the view, and you’ll hear them too. That’s a farm for you.
We’ve got wellies and coats by the door we lend out. If you want, we can show you around the farm. The milking is robotic, 24 hours a day. You can try some fresh milk and collect your own eggs from the hens. There’s a microbrewery on site as well. Their tap room is open the last weekend of every month.
You can bring one dog. There are fields around the place for walks.
Sedgefield village is about two miles away. There’s a Co-op and a Sainsbury’s close by, plus some good butchers and pubs. The Sedgefield racecourse is just outside the village.
For a day out, Durham is about twenty minutes by car. The cathedral is the main thing to see. Beamish Museum is also nearby, maybe half an hour away. Beamish Museum.
The coast is a drive, around 40 minutes to places like Saltburn. If you head north into Northumberland, that’s an hour or so for the beaches and castles.
Facilities wise: we’ve put a dishwasher in, there’s WiFi, a TV, and parking right outside. All the bedding and towels are included. There’s a cot if you need it. The shower is a walk-in one.
