Calf House Cottage Mordon

Calf House Cottage is on our dairy farm in Mordon. It's a conversion from an old calf house, hence the name. It's detached, so you're on your own. The views are over the yard and the fields.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one bathroom on the ground floor. It's got a 4 Star rating. It was done up recently, so it's in good nick. Underfloor heating, which works very well. The ceilings are vaulted with some beams, so it feels quite spacious.

Because it's a farm, there are animals. You'll see and hear the cows. They're milked 24 hours a day by robots, which is interesting to see if you've never watched it. We keep boots and coats by the door if you want to come and look around. We're usually about if you have questions. You can try some raw milk from the parlour if you like, and there are eggs from our hens.

There's a microbrewery on the farm too. They make a few beers and you can buy samples from their website: Hopper House Brew Farm.

You can bring one dog. There are fields right outside the door for walks.

The village of Sedgefield is about two miles away. It's got a nice green, some shops, a Co-op, and a few good pubs. It's handy.

For getting out, you're close to the A1. Durham is about a 20 minute drive. The cathedral is worth seeing. Beamish Museum is about half an hour away. For the coast, Saltburn-by-the-Sea or Whitby are about 40 minutes. Northumberland, with all its castles, is a bit further but you can get there in an hour or so.

Inside, it's got a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and a cot if you need it. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking right outside.
