This is Rising Sun Cottage in Aldwark. It's a converted cart shed, so it's a single-storey place. Everything is on the ground floor. You get views over the fields from the back. It's quiet here.
It sleeps four, in two bedrooms. Each bedroom has its own bathroom, which is handy. The rating is 5 Star, so it's well-finished. There's underfloor heating and a wood burner for cooler nights.
The kitchen is open plan with the living area. It has a dishwasher and a washing machine. There's a TV and WiFi. You can bring one dog. Outside, there's a patio garden and parking right by the door.
There are three fishing lakes on the site, which are free to use if you fancy it. The local pub and a restaurant are about a mile and a half away. The nearest shop is in Alne, roughly three and a half miles.
For getting out, York is about a twenty minute drive. It's an easy trip in for the day. The North York Moors and the Yorkshire Dales are both within half an hour's drive for walking. Places like Castle Howard, Beningbrough Hall, and Fountains Abbey are all in that range too.
The coast at Scarborough or Filey is about forty minutes away. Whitby and Robin Hood's Bay are a bit further, maybe fifty minutes. There's horseracing at York, Thirsk, and Ripon, and a few local golf courses.
