Farr is in West Helmsdale. It's a detached, single-storey cottage, so all on one level. You're up on the hillside overlooking the sea. The view from the front windows is the main thing. It's just you, the field, and the water.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. It's got a 3 Star rating, so it's clean and comfortable rather than luxurious. The kitchen is small but it's got what you need. There's an open fire in the living room. We leave logs for you.
The garden at the front is enclosed by a low fence. It's fine for sitting out, but it isn't dog-proof, so you'd need to keep an eye on them. The back door opens straight onto the hillside. Deer come right up to the window sometimes.
Helmsdale village is about a mile down the hill. It's a single-track road, steep in parts. The village has a shop, a pub that does food, and a little harbour. The NC500 route runs right through it.
There's a pebble beach a mile away. For sandy beaches, you're looking at a bit of a drive. Brora is about 12 miles south. Dunrobin Castle is 15 miles north. If you want proper hills, you can be in the flow country or up towards Ben Bhraggie within half an hour.
Facilities: it's got a washing machine, towels and bedding are included, there's parking right outside, and WiFi. We accept up to two dogs. The place is wheelchair accessible to get in, but the doors inside are standard width.
