The Potting Shed

The Potting Shed is on our farm just outside Wierston. It's a bungalow so everything's on one level. We built it with accessibility in mind, so there are no steps to get in, the doors are wide, and there's a walk-in bath with a seat in the main bathroom. One of the single beds is an electric adjustable one if that's useful.

It's detached and sleeps four, with two bedrooms and that one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and well-equipped. You're welcome to bring one well-behaved dog.

Inside, it's just a straightforward, spacious living area. The patio doors open out onto a big decked area that looks over the garden. You get that whole garden to yourselves. There's a barbecue out there too.

On the farm, we've got a games room with a pool table and table tennis that guests can use. It's handy if the weather turns. We're a working farm, so you'll see sheep and cattle around, but the cottage itself is separate and quiet.

For beaches, Dally Bay is about two miles away. It's a lovely sandy beach where you sometimes see porpoises. The whole Galloway coast is right there for exploring. The Logan Botanic Garden is well worth a visit, about a 25 minute drive. It's warmer there because of the Gulf Stream, so they can grow all sorts of unusual plants.

Portpatrick is a nice little harbour village, about 15 minutes by car. It's got a few places to eat and a golf course. Stranraer is bigger, about eight miles, for more shops and supermarkets.

The facilities are all there: WiFi, TV, washing machine, bedding and towels included. We provide a cot and a highchair if you need them. Parking is right outside the door.
