The Coach House

The Coach House is here in Montgarrie, just outside Alford. It's part of our farm. The property was done up a few years ago. It's semi-detached, but it's just you in the building.

It sleeps six. Four bedrooms, two bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and there's plenty of space. It's not a show home, it's a place to stay.

You're on a working farm, so you'll see tractors and livestock around. The River Don runs along the edge of the land. If you want to try fishing, ask me and I can sort a permit.

Alford is two miles away for basics. There's a shop, a couple of pubs that do food, and a small golf course. The Alford Valley Railway and the transport museum are there if that's your sort of thing.

You're well placed for castles. Craigievar Castle is the famous pink one, about a 20 minute drive. Castle Fraser and Kildrummy Castle are within half an hour. The National Trust for Scotland page has good details for Craigievar.

For walking, Bennachie is the big hill you can see. The trails start about 25 minutes away by car. If you ski, the Lecht ski centre is about 40 minutes drive, but that's obviously just in winter when there's snow.

Aberdeen is about 35-40 minutes in the car if you need a city day or the airport.

In the house, you've got the things you'd expect. Washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, TV, a wood burner. The bedding and towels are included. There's a cot if you need it. You can bring up to two dogs. There's parking right outside.
