Quiraing is on the Isle of Skye, near Staffin. It’s one of two cottages on our croft, which is still a working farm. The view from the window looks straight out over Staffin Bay.
It’s a one bedroom cottage, so it sleeps two people. The bathroom is en-suite. It’s got a 5 Star rating, which means everything is in good order and well finished. It’s underfloor heated and there’s a multi-fuel stove in the living area.
The cottage is detached and you get your own bit of enclosed garden. There’s parking right outside. It’s a traditional design, so it fits in with the old crofts you see around here.
You can walk down to Staffin Beach from the cottage. The famous dinosaur footprints are there. The Quiraing landslip itself is just up the road, you can see it from the door. The walking is serious here, from coastal paths right up to the Trotternish Ridge. We get eagles and deer on the croft.
There’s a shop and a restaurant about a mile away in Staffin. The nearest pub is a bit further, in Flodigarry. Portree is about half an hour’s drive for more shops and places to eat.
For days out, Isle of Skye has good information. The National Trust for Scotland looks after Glencoe, which is over on the mainland.
Facilities: there’s a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and TV. Bedding and towels are included. The garden has a barbecue and there’s bike storage. We don’t take pets, sorry. You can book the cottage next door as well if you’re a group of four.
