Hog Pits

Hog Pits is a cottage on our farm in East Tytherton. It's detached and all on one level, so there are no stairs. It overlooks fields.

It sleeps four, with two bedrooms and one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and well-equipped. There's a woodburner for cooler evenings. The garden is enclosed, which is handy if you bring a dog.

Yes, we take one well-behaved dog. There's parking right outside.

The farm is working, with horses, chickens, and pigs in the fields around. You'll see them from the garden.

The cottage has the things you'd need: a dishwasher, washing machine, WiFi, and TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them. It's also set up for wheelchair access.

You're in the countryside here. The shop is in the next village, about three miles away. The nearest pub is a couple of miles. For a proper supermarket, you'd head to Chippenham.

For walks, there are plenty of footpaths from the door and the Wiltshire & Berkshire Canal towpath is close by.

Within about half an hour, you can get to some good places. Lacock village is beautiful and the National Trust abbey there is worth a visit. National Trust Lacock. Castle Combe is another pretty village. Bradford-on-Avon is lovely for a wander by the river.

Bath is the big day out, about a 25-minute drive. You can see the Roman Baths and the Abbey. Stonehenge and Avebury are both within easy reach if you want to see the stone circles. Bowood House has nice gardens and a play area for kids.

That's about it. It's a quiet spot on the farm, good for a break.
