Dess Lodge is up at Kincardine O'Neil, on the South Deeside road. It's an old stone gatehouse for the big estate, so it's detached and sits back from the road. You get your own garden all the way around.
It sleeps four, in two bedrooms. There are two bathrooms, both with showers. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's well kept and comfortable. It's Victorian so the rooms are a decent size. Some of the windows are sash windows.
The place has a lot of original wood inside, pitch pine doors and floors. There's an open fireplace you can use. We provide the wood. The floors in the main room are tartan carpet. It's a traditional style.
You're about two miles from a shop for basics. The nearest pub is about three miles away in Aboyne. For a bigger shop, Banchory is a good bet, about a fifteen minute drive.
You're right in the middle of Royal Deeside so it's good for getting about. Ballater is twenty minutes west. Balmoral Castle is a bit further on from there. To the east, Aberdeen is about a forty minute drive if you need the city or the airport.
There are good walks straight from the door. For castles, Crathes is close by, and Craigievar is a bit further. The Historic Environment Scotland site has details for those. For broader walking, the Cairngorms National Park website is useful.
In terms of what's there: wifi, TV, washing machine, parking for two cars. Bedding and towels are included. No pets, I'm afraid.
