Brightwater Cottage is in Arnisdale. It's a small place on Loch Hourn, right at the end of the road. The view from the front is across the water to Knoydart. On a clear day you can see the Cuillin mountains on Skye.
It sleeps four in two bedrooms. One bathroom with a shower. It's got a 3 Star rating. It's comfortable and clean. You get the whole cottage and the enclosed garden to yourselves.
The cottage has a woodburning stove for the cooler evenings. There's a washing machine, TV, and parking for one car. We can take up to two well-behaved dogs. Bedding is included, and there's a cot and highchair if you need them.
Arnisdale itself is very quiet. There's no shop or pub here. For that, you need to drive to Glenelg. It's about nine miles. They've got a shop, a pub, a restaurant, and the ferry over to Skye from there.
You're really here for the outdoors. The walking is serious. The cottage is right on the shore, so you can set off from the door. Beinn Sgritheall is the big mountain behind the village if you're up for a challenge. For fishing or just a change of scene, Loch Hourn is there.
If you want to explore further, Kyle of Lochalsh and the bridge to Skye are about an hour's drive. The Knoydart Foundation website has good local information. For wider walks and conservation, The John Muir Trust looks after some of the land here.
