Slingsby Barn is in Cowgill. That's a small village in Dentdale, Cumbria. It's a proper stone barn conversion, detached, with its own garden. The garden's big and grassy, with a little stream at the bottom next to the fields.
It sleeps eight. There are four bedrooms and two bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating, which is accurate. It's spacious and well-finished. The layout is a bit unusual. There are two separate living rooms, each with a wood burner. One has a double sofa bed in it. There are also two separate staircases going up to different parts of the house.
The main bathroom has a freestanding bath that looks out over the fields. All the windows have good views, to be honest. You'll see the Arten Gill viaduct from outside, where the steam trains run on the Settle to Carlisle line.
You need to be aware of the stairs. They're steep in places, like most old barns. And the lanes leading here are narrow and rural. That's just how it is.
You're right in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The Dales Way path is on the doorstep for walking. The Howgill Fells are close by too. If you want to go to the Lake District, it's about a 15-mile drive.
There's a pub that does food about half a mile away. The village of Dent is a 15-minute drive, and it's lovely. Sedbergh, which is a proper little market town, is about 30 minutes by car. Dent station is about a mile and a half away if you need the train.
For facilities: there's parking, a fully equipped kitchen with a dishwasher, a washing machine, WiFi, TV, and an enclosed garden. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and highchair. We allow up to two well-behaved dogs.
