The Lake House

The Lake House is in Tattingstone, Suffolk. It's down a farm lane, so it's quiet. You're surrounded by fields and there's a big lake, Alton Water, a couple of minutes' walk away.

It sleeps ten people. Five bedrooms, two bathrooms. One bedroom is on the ground floor with its own shower. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and well looked after.

There's a decent sized lawn that gets the sun all afternoon. There's also a much bigger wild meadow that goes down towards the lake. It's good for kids to run around in. The grass in the meadow gets long, we cut it back now and then.

Inside, there are two sitting rooms. One is bigger, good for everyone to be together. The other is smaller, useful if some people want to watch something different on TV.

You can bring up to two dogs. There's parking for several cars. It has a woodburning stove, a dishwasher, and a washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. There's also an electric vehicle charger.

Alton Water is the main thing here. It's a reservoir with a watersports centre. You can hire sailing boats, paddleboards, that sort of thing. There's a cafe there too. The paths around it are good for walking and cycling.

For the coast, Southwold is about a 45 minute drive. It's a nice town with a beach and a pier. RSPB Minsmere is a bit further along the coast if you like birdwatching. Ipswich and Colchester are both under half an hour away for bigger shops or a day out.
