Tawe Cottage

This is Tawe Cottage. It's in Ystradgynlais, which is on the south-western edge of the Brecon Beacons. You're right opposite the River Tawe.

It's a small, terraced cottage that sleeps three. Two bedrooms, one bathroom on the ground floor. It's got a 4 Star rating. That means it's comfortable and well-kept.

The rooms are smaller than the photos sometimes look. It feels more like a home than a showhouse. You've got a living room, a dining table for games, and a kitchen with a small breakfast table.

Upstairs, there's one double bedroom with a small TV. The other is a small single room. There's a pull-out camp bed in there too, which is okay for a younger child. The bathroom has a shower over the bath.

The stairs are fairly steep. They're normal for an old cottage.

You've got a little courtyard garden out the back with a table and chairs. It's sunny in the afternoon.

The village has a few things within walking distance. There's a Co-op about five minutes away for basics. A couple of pubs do food. For a bigger supermarket you'd drive.

You're really here for the Brecon Beacons. You can drive into the heart of the park in about fifteen minutes. The Pen y Fan horseshoe walk is about half an hour away by car. The National Trust's Brecon Beacons page is good for planning walks.

The waterfalls around Ystradfellte, like Sgwd yr Eira, are maybe twenty-five minutes drive. The National Showcaves are about the same.

Swansea is roughly thirty minutes south if you need a city or a big shopping centre. The Gower Peninsula is under an hour.

Facilities: bedding and towels are included. There's a washing machine, WiFi, and parking for one car on the street outside. We accept up to two well-behaved dogs.

If you're looking into exploring properly, Brecon Beacons National Park Authority has the official visitor information.
