Brackenwood

Brackenwood is in Caldy, just outside West Kirby on the Wirral. It's a big, old detached house with a separate two-bedroom cottage in the grounds. You get the whole place, it's gated and private.

It sleeps twelve people in total, six bedrooms in the main house and two in the cottage. There are four bathrooms. It's a 5 Star property so it's well equipped and finished to a high standard. The main house has a big kitchen with an island, and bi-fold doors that open onto the terrace. The stairs are standard, not especially steep.

The cottage was done up in 2023. It's self-contained with its own kitchen and bathroom. It's useful if some of your group want a bit more space.

Outside, there's a large garden on different levels. There's a hot tub and a sauna on the main terrace, a putting green, and a children's swing set. The garden is enclosed, which is good for dogs and kids. You can bring up to two dogs.

You're right next to Caldy Hill, which is woodland with paths. West Kirby is about a mile away. That's where the Marine Lake is, and the beach for walking out to Hilbre Islands at low tide. There's a local society website with tide times and guidance for Hilbre.

If you're into golf, Royal Liverpool at Hoylake is very close. Chester is about a thirty minute drive, Liverpool is about forty minutes. Both have the usual city things: shopping, restaurants, museums. For walks, the Wirral Way or the coast path towards Thurstaston are good. The National Trust looks after a lot of the coastline here.

Facilities: everything you'd expect is included. Washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, bedding and towels. There's a cot available. Plenty of parking on the drive.
